The video walks you through configuration of Intra-Site Automatic Tunnel Addressing Protocol (ISATAP) point-to-multipoint tunnel on Cisco router to transport IPv6 traffic over IPv4 network among multiple IPv6 sites. ISATAP tunnel work similarly to the IPv4-Compatible tunnel with the IPv4 tunnel destination embedded in the next-hop IP. Unlike other tunnelling technologies, ISATAP supports Router Advertisement over the tunnel allowing dual-stack hosts to connect directly to the default router. We will look at two ways of default router discovery: manual and DNS. Packet analysis on Wireshark will be performed to help us gain better understanding of the encapsulation and packet structure.

Part 1 of this video focuses on network-to-network tunnel configuration with static route and EIGRPv6

Note:
  • IPv4 Tunnel destination IP is embedded within the IPv6 destination subnet in the format of ::5EFE:a.b.c.d/64
Topic:
  • ISATAP Tunnel (Point-to-Multipoint)
  • Network-to-Network ISATAP Tunnel
  • EIGRPv6 over ISATAP Tunnel
  • Client-to-Network ISATAP Tunnel on Windows 7
