The video shows two methods to extend L2 subnets and broadcast domains from Cisco ACI to an external network namely EPG Extension and Extended Bridged Network (L2OUT). We will looks at both scenarios of having a subnet default gateway in ACI and an external network. At the end of the lab, we will demonstrate a server migration from the external network into ACI using the L2 extension we created.

Part 1 of this video covers EPG Extension

Topic:
  • EPG Extension
  • Virtual Port-Channel
  • Mis-Cabling Protocol (MCP)
  • ARP Flooding
  • Extended Bridged Network (L2OUT)
  • L2OUT EPG
  • L2OUT Contract
  • Server Migration

Hi,
In network centric deployment, I have VLAN 2= BD1=EPG1=192.168.1.0/24 ,VLAN3= BD2=EPG2=192.168.2.0/24= DB. If my ACI is acting as layer 2 for the EPGs and the gateway is outside the fabric (not connected directly to the leaf ).
- Do We need contract between the EPGs ?
- In VRF setting which option I need to choose for Policy Control Enforcement Preference : Enforce /unenforced ?
Regards.

If you use EPG extension, you shouldn't becuase as far as ACI is concerned, all traffic is within the EPG. If you use L2OUT, however, contract is needed. VRF setting in either case should be irrelevant.
