The video walks you through configurations of shared services in Cisco ACI. We will demonstrate route leaking between VRFs using three practical scenarios. Scenario 1 is a simple route leaking between two EPGs. Scenario 2 makes Inband Management available to our production VRF. Scenario 3 extends Inband Management access to external network via L3Out.

why not to use a router/firewall. send the traffic to that firewall/router and if it needs to come back to the ACI Fabric the firewall/router can send the traffic to the destination vrf in the ACI Fabric...

You certainly can if having FW inspection is needed. This is just one of many ways to do shared services.
